Voice123 and SaVoa: A New Understanding

On July 16, 2008, SaVoa members with subscriptions to Voice123 received an email from Voice123’s co-founder, Alex Torrenegra, regarding a VO-BB forum post by SaVoa chairman, Ed Gambill. Mr. Torrenegra was understandably concerned about statements made in the post that did not cast Voice123 in the best light.

SaVoa’s chairman assures Voice123, SaVoa members and the voice over community that those comments do not reflect SaVoa’s purpose nor the opinions of the board of directors. In retrospect, those comments do not even accurately reflect Mr. Gambill’s feelings about Voice123. This is admittedly the downside of memorializing opinions in writing, a method that also cannot accurately reflect tone and emotion.

Recently, Ed Gambill, Alex Torrenegra and Voice123’s general manager, Juan Salcedo, had a phone conference to discuss the forum post and clear the way for more open and direct communication between SaVoa and Voice123. Voice123’s blog regarding this phone meeting can be found here:

An audio message from Ed Gambill with his additional thoughts about these events can also be found here:

Change is generally the result of discord rather than harmony. Although SaVoa would have chosen a different path than the one that brought us here, we welcome an opportunity to work with Voice123 and other online communities in supporting positive environments for the enhancement of the voice over industry.
