SaVoa Advisory Board Considers New Affiliate Program
Members of the SaVoa Advisory Board meet via conference call the first Thursday of every month. This month’s hour-and-a-half call was jam-packed.
Here is a brief overview of ideas being considered for action:
SaVoa is seeking a number of liasons with service and product providers, structured through an affiliate program that is still taking form.
Without naming names, SaVoa has already had substantial talks with a highly-regarded specialist in audio engineering. This individual also has expertise in ISDN and Source-Connect. The talks revolve around finding a compromised price-point on discounted service from this individual in return for his access to our membership.
Also, about 20 minutes of the conference call was spent in dialogue with the founder of a well-known online pay-to-play site who wishes to engage in a trade or barter of services and privileges between that site and SaVoa’s membership.
SaVoa is also forging ahead in the area of online video presentations, probably to appear at least initially on a YouTube Channel. There was considerable discussion of how that would benefit our members and the help the perception of SaVoa in general. Suggestions included using brief video instructional videos to explain the peer-review process, or how-to segments that may, for instance, offer suggestions for setting-up audio chains, or mastering mic technique.
There was some discussion about whether SaVoa might want to seek a significant presence at next year’s VOICE2010 conference.
Action items included forming subcommittees (gotta love ‘em!) to begin putting some teeth into proposals for affiliate programs and video presentations.
Thom Wilkins, chair of the Advisory Board continues to engage in negotiations of a one-on-one nature with the two individuals representing our first possible affiliate relationships.
Respectfully submitted,
Dave Courvoisier

Hi Dave-
Thanks for the posting the info from the Advisory Board meeting. It sounds like a lot of wonderful opportunities are down the road. Keep up the good work! Missed you at the get-together last week- several people from VOICE2008 were there and we had a great time. Wonderful to see old friends!
